Localization does not begin with translation.
The most common mistake is to take creative work, change the name of the country and assume that the campaign is localized. The user perceives the whole way: advertising wording, visual, landing page language, sum format, mobile script and further steps. If items argue with each other, conversions drop even with a good CTR.
What to compare for each GEO
| Layer | Check it out. |
|---|---|
| Language | Is the wording of a particular audience clear, is there no machine revolutions? |
| Currency context | Does the amount look alien or inappropriate? |
| Creative. | Complies with the local context and rules of the site |
| landing | Does the promise survive after the click? |
| The mobile path | Is the script convenient on the most frequent devices? |
| Analytics. | Whether the GEO is separated by a separate label |
Russia
For RU, it is important not to use the “universal Russian text” as an excuse for the lack of adaptation. Even within the same language, different advertising sources require different feeds: the search user comes with a specific query, and social traffic is more likely to respond to context and creativity.
Kazakhstan
In KZ, it is especially important to test not only the language, but also the perception of the message. A copy of a RU campaign can give you a good CTR and a weak conversion after a click. This is a signal that attention has been received, but the expectation of the user did not coincide with the landing page.
Uzbekistan
For UZ, the mobile scenario should be checked separately, rather than draw a conclusion from the general statistics on the site. If the page is heavy or the interface doesn’t work well on specific devices, the problem will look like a “weak GEO” when it’s actually a technical loss.
Azerbaijan
It is useful for AZ to test the consistency of creative and landing. The same meaning can be presented in different ways, and the task of the test is not to find the “most beautiful” option, but to see which path gives a stronger result after a click.
How not to be fooled by the average number
Don’t add four countries into a single report. For example, a total CR of 14% may consist of 20% in one market and 8% in another. If the purchase of traffic is at the general rate, the weak segment begins to eat the profits of the strong.
- Separate SubID at GEO.
- Separate creative set.
- Same comparison window.
- Separate FTD cost control.
The list of markets available on the site and the basic approach to launch are collected on the page. GEO.
Make a localization map before launch
For each GEO, enter one line with the creative language, the landing language, the main currency filing, the available formats and rules of the advertising platform. This is a simple table, but it does not accidentally send RU-creatives to a campaign where another landing version has already been prepared.
Do not transfer withdrawals between markets automatically
Just because the short video format won at KZ doesn’t mean it’s going to be stronger at AZ. Even with the same source, competition, audience composition, and format habit can vary. Transfer not the “winning banner”, but the hypothesis, which is then tested again.
How to analyze a small GEO
With a small volume, do not divide the data into dozens of segments. First, compare the general click → registration and registration → FTD. When enough events accumulate, add a device or campaign. Otherwise, one user will change the percentage too much.
Monitoring of consistency
Before launching, open the path as a regular user: ad → link → landing → the next step. Make sure the country, language, and wording don’t change unexpectedly. Such a manual passage often finds problems faster than a complex report.
Basic set of creatives on GEO
Don’t start with dozens of options. For each market, two or three different communication angles and one stable landing page are enough. First figure out what meaning works, then scale the number of executions.
Don’t mix localization with personalization.
Localization is responsible for matching the market, and personalization is responsible for a specific segment within the market. Get the basic GEO correctness first, then test the differences by source, device, or audience. Too many variables change at the same time.
Editorial control of the language
Even if a translator is used, the final text should be read by a person who understands the language or local version of the wording with confidence. A machine-correct phrase can sound unnatural and reduce trust. This is especially evident in short headlines and the CTA, where every word is in plain sight.
